Faraaz Turn Around, The Stage Is Behind You

whenever i go to raves / edm concerts or really just any concert, i start looking everywhere but the stage.

especially at raves, i’ll turn around and face all my friends to dance and vibe with them instead.

usually when i head to these events, i don’t really go for the music or artist. a lot of the times i actually don’t even know who the artist is.

recently i went to EDC, this huge EDM festival.

it was insane— extravagant stages, headlining artists, lasers, moving spot lights, some guy dressed in an astronaut costume.

and although the festival in itself was amazing, i’d never go unless i wasn’t there with other mfs I want to make memories with.

because for me, these events are just a mechanism for me to gather my friends and have a great time with all of them together.

especially post grad, when lots of your days are taken up by mundane tasks like your 9-5, it’s important to have these avenues where you can spend time with people you care about. whether it be hooping, snowboarding, raving, yapping at the crib, watching love island, grabbing fern thai, etc.

so when i turn around and just look at all my friends while martin garix’s visual team is launching 1000 fireworks into the shimmering void behind me, its mainly because i derive all the joy from being with all of them instead.

especially if you’re the one to plan the motive… whether it be rallying everyone to go somewhere, planning and orchestrating a trip, or hosting something at the crib…

it’s the most rewarding feeling seeing everyone enjoy it.
